Visitors

Molly was the first to visit, and she brought us breakfast and coffee each morning. Brad & Susan (DanMa and Granpere?) also came on the first day. Lindsay and Asher visited on Day 2, but we didn't get any pictures (next time!), and then Dave and Alexa brought us Thai food on our last night in the hospital.

More from Day 1

Welcome Olive Ellen!

On Monday, August 17, our lives changed forever. At 3:16 a.m., 9 hours after Kate's water broke while washing dishes, Olive emerged into the world with a healthy howl (a skill she continues to hone). Though 9 hours sounds like a long time, Kate's labor was fast and furious, and we were holding our daughter before we knew it. Weighing 8 lbs, 2 ozs and measuring 20 3/4 inches, Olive is a perfect, healthy baby girl.
The three of us spent two nights at the hospital, and we've now spent two nights at home. This is such a magical time, truly beyond description.

Shower

Molly threw Kate a fantastic shower on July 18 with an "origami mommy" theme, complete with sesame balls, steamed pork buns, soba noodles, and corn-flavored candy. About thirty friends came over, and it was a perfect summer afternoon.

Bouyancy

What to do when you're carrying a full-term baby on a 95 degree day? Go to the pool and scare all of the teens away from unprotected sex. Five hours at the pool today with Lindsay, Scott, and their two boys Eli and Asher. Smuggled in cookies and "fuego" Bimbo tortilla chips from the market down the street. Caliente!
