Halloween Hoe-Down & Rib Throw Down

Kansas City 2011

We visited the family in KC this October. As always, it was a fantastic trip. The girls had a ball playing together. Olive was old enough to keep up and Reese was at her side the whole time. We attended two of Niely's soccer games (her team won both!) and we visited a pumpkin patch/apple orchard. Grandma KK and Grandpa Dan really rolled out the red carpet for us and we could not of had a better time! To top it all off Mike and Nancy showed up on Saturday!!!

1st day of school

We have been having a lot of firsts lately. Olive started preschool in the begining of October. She is attending Dos Pasitos, a Spanish/English language school with a heavy montesorri influence. Her teacher is Ms. Birta, who Olive adores. Olive enjoys the school but is putting her father to work in the morning, refusing to get dressed and staging some meledramic goodbyes.

1st haircut!

It only took 2 years and 2 months, but Olive finally needed a haircut. We went to a stylish salon located across the street from the playground and Ms. Olive had her 1st haircut. She behaved well (thanks to the lollipop) and a good time was had by all.

We have also started potty training, at Olive's request. She started getting up in the middle of the night to let us know she had peed and that she would like her diaper changed. So far it is going well, kinda complicated by traveling and having her preschool teacher on vacation the last two weeks.

Bike parade

We did the Tour de Fat with Olive this year and she had the time of her life!

Olive turns 2

Olive had a few birthday celebrations becuase her father happened to have his appendix out the same week. Despite the setback, she had a great b-day party with her friends.

We headed to Mesa, CO for my cousin Nathalie's wedding over the 4th of July weekend. We stayed in a cabin with my parents and cousin Annie and her man Kiel. It was great to room with everyone. Olive loved the horses next door and the turkey that came and visited us. The wedding was a blast and it was really wonderful to see my family. After the wedding we headed to Telluride for the fireworks. Olive was an awesome sport and stayed up to see them (the ice cream helped). They were a bit too loud and we ended up watching them from the gondola, which was really cool. We spent two nights in Telluride - hiking, eating, and bringing Olive to the playground. We went to Ouray next for another couple days of hiking and CAMPING! Camping was fun with Olive and very different from past experiences, our tent was bigger than our bedroom and the car was just a few feet away. Actually, we could really come to like the whole car camping thing!

been awhile.

Here are a couple of shots of Ms. Olive. She is getting HUGE (above average in the height department, no surprise) and she is starting to link words together. Unfortunately many of them are linked with "no!"
